The STAHLWERK combination welding machine MTM-200 ST is a powerful 3-in-1 inverter with an output power of 200 A. It combines the welding processes TIG (DC), MIG/MAG and MMA in one compact device. It is also suitable for welding with cored wire (FLUX) and for precise work on thin sheet metal. However, welding aluminum is not possible. In MIG/MAG and FLUX operation, the automatic wire feed with selectable wire diameters (0.6/0.8/1.0 mm and 0.9 mm for cored wire) enables comfortable welding. The spool mandrel is suitable for holding spools with a diameter of 16 mm or 50 mm, so that wire rolls of 1 to 5 kg can be clamped. A powerful 4-roller drive ensures reliable and continuous wire feed, even with thicker welding wires. A continuously variable voltage correction and an adjustable arc width correction offer additional control over penetration, seam shape and wire burning speed. In TIG mode, the MTM-200 ST works with direct current (DC) and high frequency ignition (HF). The 2T/4T operation and adjustable parameters enable very controlled firing and seam finishing. 20-180 A is available for MMA operation, supplemented by hot start for easier ignition and anti-stick to prevent the electrode from sticking. The modern IGBT inverter technology ensures high performance with a compact design and low weight. Overheating protection, powerful smart cooling, ST-Guard housing and the VRD function (voltage-reduced idle in MMA mode) increase safety and reliability, even during intensive workshop use. This makes the MTM-200 ST a versatile all-rounder for professional applications in the trade and for demanding DIY enthusiasts.

Functions

  • The STAHLWERK combination welding machine MTM-200 ST is a powerful 3-in-1 inverter with 200 A and combines the TIG | welding processes MIG MAG | MMA in one device. The welding machine is also suitable for processing cored wire and for welding thin sheet metal, but not for welding aluminum.
  • MIG / MAG welding (DC) – metal inert gas welding with inert (MIG, e.g. argon) or active gases (MAG, e.g. CO₂ or mixed gas), ideal for steel and stainless steel.
  • Voltage control - With the variable voltage control, the penetration and burning of the wire can be adjusted manually. The higher the voltage, the faster the wire burns. Depending on the material and material thickness, a lower or higher setting can be selected. The automatic wire feed can be adjusted slightly by accelerating or slowing down the burning.
  • Cored wire welding (FLUX) – AG welding without inert gas with special cored wires – ideal for outdoors or in drafty conditions. Cored wire - all of our ST series devices can use flux cored wire. This makes welding possible without inert gas. To do this, the welding machine can simply be reversed.
  • DC TIG welding with HF ignition: DC TIG for precise, low-spatter seams on steel and stainless steel, high-frequency ignition for comfortable starting of the arc.
  • 2T/4T (TIG/MIG/MAG) - determines operating mode control and provides advanced control over current flow. In 2T mode, the high-frequency ignition (HF) remains active until the button on the torch is released. In 4T mode, the arc is ignited after pressing and releasing the button once. After pressing and releasing again, the ignition is stopped.
  • MMA/MMA welding with anti-stick - Universal electrode welding with 20-180 A: Can be used in many environmental conditions - ideal for construction sites, assembly and repairs. Thanks to the anti-stick function, the welding current is automatically shut down if the electrode sticks. The electrode can be easily removed.
  • Wire diameter and gas selection – The selection of wire diameters (0.6 / 0.8 / 1.0 mm, 0.9 mm for FLUX) and suitable protective gases is possible directly via the control panel.
  • 4 roller drive - reliable and powerful wire feed. Thanks to 4 drive rollers, even thicker wires are conveyed continuously and safely.

Properties & advantages

  • IGBT technology: Modern inverter technology with high efficiency, stable arc and compact design.
  • Hotstart function (MMA): Automatic voltage increase when igniting the electrode for better ignition results and quickly heated seam start.
  • Smart cooling & overheating protection - State-of-the-art technology, integrated overheating protection and high-performance cooling enable maximum performance to be achieved. A powerful fan ensures maximum operating time through excellent cooling.
  • ST-Guard housing: Ergonomic, robust and operationally safe housing with an easily accessible, intuitively operated front panel.
  • Infinitely adjustable welding current: Adjustment of the welding current to the type and thickness of the material for optimal seam quality.
  • VRD (Voltage Reduction Device). Manual on/off switching of the VRD function allows the output voltage of the welding machine to be reduced to a safe level to protect the operator when touching the electrode while not welding is in progress.
  • Automatic wire feed speed. (Automatic wire feed) – The welding wire is automatically twisted off the spool and pushed from the wire feed unit through a hose package several meters long to the contact tip in the torch. The speed regulates itself depending on the welding current.
  • Test and test modes: Both the wire feed and the gas supply can be controlled with two test and test buttons. By pressing the wire feed test button, the wire feed can be checked manually without starting a welding process. The wire motor is activated so that welding wire emerges from the torch tip, but without electricity or gas flow. This function is used to control the feed and to thread the wire into the torch, for example after a wire change. Using the gas check button, the gas flow is switched on manually without starting a welding process: a solenoid valve opens and protective gas flows out of the gas nozzle. This function is used to control the gas supply, to check for leaks and to adjust the gas quantity on the flow meter.

Note:The device is not intended for use in residential areas where power is supplied via a public low-voltage power supply system. It may be difficult to ensure electromagnetic compatibility in these areas due to both conducted and radiated interference.

Operating instructions:The MTM-200 ST combination device is not suitable for welding aluminum.
